How then Shall we pray?

As we know more of God, and who He is, we learn more of how to pray. We must continue to peer into Gods word to better know how or what to pray. In the last post we learned how to pray anew for believers. But for believers, as we know God, it becomes clearer what God wants. He wants worshippers to worship Him in spirit and truth.

But how does this come to be? How will worshippers come? We the knowers of God must pray. We must talk to our God, personally, persistently and passionately on the “unknowers” behalf.

But why? Because we know God. We have learned what he desires. We have listened to Him, we have read His word, we have been shaped in our time with Him. And in this time His desires have become ours.

What then? God calls all “knowers” to pray for all people. Because only the believer has access to God’s ear through the mediator Jesus Christ. 1 Timothy 2:5 tells us there is only one mediator between mankind and God, and that is Jesus. And as followers of Christ we already knew that God hears us. We also learn that God’s desire is for all to know Him. But we already knew that in a way because we know Him.

So if His desire is for all to know Him, and we are asked to pray for all people, then it’s our prayer for all to know Him. But reader, do you? Do you know Him and His desires? Do you see yourself in light of who He is? Do you pray His word? Do you talk to Him about what He is into, what He finds most important? Do you beg God for the souls and lives of those around you?

If we want to live  peaceable and godly lives, what could be better than a place where everyone believes and trusts in God? A place where people strive and live for holiness because He is holy? A place where mercy reigns and never dies! A place where all people know Him! A place like that, no one would ever want to leave, and all would want to learn and know The One who made it that way. There would never be a better place. And that kind of place can only be found if all would know Him.

So pray because you know God. You have learned what He desires. You have listened to Him, you have read His word, you have been shaped in your time with Him. And in this time His desires have become yours, so you pray.
