Remember when you were a child and you would go on a trip? And as you climbed into the car you thought that it would take forever to get to your destination. But then sleep overtook you; you placed your trust in your father’s driving and you closed your eyes. Next thing you know you’re pulling up to where you were going. What initially seemed like it would take forever only took moments. When you placed your trust in the driver the whole trip went quickly.
This story reminds me of Christ calming the sea and stepping into the boat. In this account of Christ calming the sea, one little fact so often gets overlooked. At the end of this account, it says that once Christ was in the boat they immediately arrived to where they were going. v. 21
Once Christ was the Captain of the boat the disciples could rest in Him. The same is to be said for us. It’s not that Christ will take us out of the storm, but He can navigate us through it. And so often in life, when we look back over a storm that initially seemed like it would take forever, once we gave Christ the driver’s seat, it seemed to pass so quickly. Is it that the storm was shorter or the distance less? No, it’s that you finally had the faith of a child to trust their Daddy.
If you are in a storm, put your Father in control. He is a really good driver, He never had an accident, He never falls asleep and He only wants what best for you in Him. Worship Him right now. Worship Him for being your loving Father. Sing to Him:
“To God be The glory, great things He has done, so loved He the world that He gave us His Son, who yielded His life and atonement for sin, and opened the life gate that all may go in. Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord let your father hear your voice!”
