Do you love beautiful things? Not magazine, Photoshop, appearance, false beauty. But unique, awe inspiring, innocent beauty. The kind of beauty that comes from places you’d least expect. The kind of beauty that doesn’t make you envy, but makes you thankful.
Jesus is this kind of beauty. He is lovely in all senses of the word. He has a tender beauty that causes so many to love him. The pictures of children coming to him; him healing desperate people; him weeping over a friend. This is the beauty that comes with Christ.
But, in this passage we see another beauty. The beauty of boldness. There is something so great about a word fitly spoken. There is such beauty in a person who stands in the face of opposition and is gently bold. It shows restraint, which is power held back. Jesus had such gracious, powerful, yet gentle beauty.
The people asked: “Is not this the man whom they seek to kill? 26 And here he is, speaking openly, and they say nothing to him!” They see it. His boldness is amazing. In the face of his life being threatened He carries out His mission. He is so committed to the cause that nothing will deter Him.
Beauty in boldness. This is Jesus. The perfect beautiful image of boldness.
Will you imitate His beauty? Will you speak that gracious loving word? Will you complement the person that seems to be literally asking you to complement them? Will you tell the unlovable that hey are loved? Will you declare truth when a lie would be easier? Will you praise when all you want to do is grumble? Will you be bold and stand for Jesus with you lips?
Not lip service! Beautiful and bold words spoken for the glory of God.
Renewed Truth John 7:25 Some of the people of Jerusalem therefore said, “Is not this the man whom they seek to kill? 26 And here he is, speaking openly, and they say nothing to him! Can it be that the authorities really know that this is the Christ? 27 But we know where this man comes from, and when the Christ appears, no one will know where he comes from.” 28 So Jesus proclaimed, as he taught in the temple, “You know me, and you know where I come from. But I have not come of my own accord. He who sent me is true, and him you do not know. 29 I know him, for I come from him, and he sent me.”
